Origin Technologies Corporation

Origin Technologies Corporation today celebrated the completion of a major expansion at its Madison, AL facility designed to accelerate development and provide a showroom for the company’s LaserGauge® Automation technology.

“The 3,000 square foot building shows our commitment to developing and enhancing the LaserGauge Automation robotic system for measuring gap and flush on vehicle body panels, windows, tail lights or headlights while on a moving assembly line. The new facility also allows Origin to bring prospective clients in and see a real-world manufacturing line demonstration on an actual full-size vehicle, whether it is a coupe, sedan, SUV or pickup truck”, said Brad Powell, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Origin Technologies Corporation.

Utilizing the Cross-Vector scanning technology, the LaserGauge Automation System provides more surface information around the edges of assembled panels than any other robotic laser profiler. This is particularly important for accurate gap and flush measurements.

The system is flexible and easy to configure. Measurement locations for each vehicle are taught to the robot. Implementation is completed in a matter of hours, not weeks.

The Automation software can be used with any brand of robot, and can support 2, 4, or more robots at the same time. It can be installed by an outside integrator or the plant’s personnel.
